wax vs. polish

Polish is an abrasive that removes a thin layer of paint, exposing =
underlying fresh paint.
Wax is a transparent coating that seals and protects the paint.
You can buy each as separate products, but you must read the labels =
carefully.
A "proper" job would first require use of the polish, to expose 'new', =
bright paint, then an application of the wax to protect that =
newly-exposed paint.=20
It is twice the effort.=20
That's why most commercial waxes/polishes contain a little of both and =
require only one application/one buffing.
