TDI - power?

Well..go drive one!

The TDIs are faster than the 2.0 crossflow. My TDI Golf (2900 lb car)
manages to break the 120 mph mark...can't imagine what that power would be
like in a 2000lb pickup. The TDI makes its power in torque. They are
rated at 90hp and 150 ft/lbs of toque, stock. Heavily modified they are
making 150hp and 300 ft lbs. Minor mods will net you 100hp+ and 175+ ft
lbs. That is the torque of a VR6 motor....all the while getting close to
50 mpg. If you really want to learn what these motors are about, and what
they can do, head over to www.tdiclub.com and do some reading. They
really are one of the coolest engines to come out of VW in a long time.

You really can't compare a 1.5 naturally aspirated diesel from 1979 to a
Variable Vane turbo charged 1.9 liter direct injected diesel from
2002....they are in two different worlds. Your pre-chamber injection 1.5
liter makes maybe 50 hp and less than 100 ft lbs of torque.
