What kind of gas
What about at higher altitudes...
doesn't thinner air effectively reduce the engine's
compression ratio?? Perhaps in those cases a lower
octane number is justified in some higher compression engines.
I run the highest octane in my 2L 16v and
low octane in my Mk1 1.7 8.2:1 (Canadian spec: no OXS, no Cat
boat-anchor edition block). In principle, I could even run
leaded gas in the Mk1, not that I would...but it could.. ;-)
