dying fuel pump?

Hello all,

I've recently notices a humming coming from the back of my '85 Jetta.  It sounds similar to a radiator fan but not nearly as loud.  Is this a fuel pump that's on it's way out?

If so, will it get noticeably louder, or should I just replace it sooner rather than later...?
