Dude, you seriously need a Bentley manual.. If you get no spark, there is
a procedure to check if it is in fact a problem with the Hall
sender. Involves placing a LED accross two of the three wires leading to
the sender, and watching for it to blink while you crank the engine. No
blink = bad sender.

Not particularly.. you'll need to remove the distributor, take a circlip
off the distributor center shaft, remove the center shaft, then unscrew
the sender. The sender is kind of spendy, and hard to find. GAPA.com gets
$107 for it, but you can buy a complete brand-new distributor for $155
from the Potterman at parts4vws.com , and avoid the pain in the ass of
having to disassemble the distributor.
