Get the manual adjustable cable now and install it, won't take more than
15 mins or so and then even if you need a new clutch you can already
have gotten the cable anyway.

In case your version of the Bentley doesn't mention it I can relay the
proper amount of slack in the cable you should adjust it to- (My copy is
in the other car's trunk right now, sorry).
