Seals Gaskets & Replacement parts

I am considering the purchase of a MK ll for the purpose of restoring and a 
weekend driver and possible auto-crossing. What research I have done so far 
indicated that I will not be able to obtain replacement door/window 
weatherstripping and possibly replacement body panels.  There seems to be 
an abundance of restoration parts for the old air cooled bugs. but not the 
Rocco's If there is a manufacturer dealer where I can get these parts I'd 
appreciate knowing where they are and if they have a WEB site. I have also 
noticed via the email received via scirocco-l that quite a few owners have 
multiple cars one to drive and one or two for parts.. is this the norm?? 
Would I be better off looking into an  A2 or A3 instead of an A1?
