This is an old muscle car recommendation. If you let those big motors sit an
idle with a new cam that has big lobes, they turn so slowly that it can
immediately wear down the lobes of the cams. Our 4 cylinder engines don't
idle nearly as slowly and don't require this.
Do whatever you feel like doing after installing your cams because nothing
is really required, as long as you have oil pressure.
