[?] Fuel - Hesitation

The in-tank pump finally died so I replaced it. Car runs much better but 
still has hesitation just after starting when idling or under load - but not 
always.

I still have to replace the external one - other than that what might be 
causing the sputtering? There was minimal crud in the old screen filter.

Oh, and anyone who's replaced the in-tank pump, have you had any problems 
getting the little filter attached to it? I pushed it on several times but 
it always came loose, I'm hoping after half a day of somewhat rigorous 
driving that it's still attached.
