Yep, it's durable! Cast iron but not the brittle stuff. With all the use
I've put mine through (even truck ball joints) it still looks like it did
when it arrived with the exception of where the pinch bolt actually pushes.
That area is showing scars but nothing that you wouldn't expect. You are
right when you say "unlike the pickle fork, would put no stress on ancillary
components". You can only bugger up the threads of the tie rod if you don't
leave the nut on to push against. I don't think I'll ever be able to wear it
out. One of the kewl tools!
