RE: 16V head on 2.0 crossflow?
16v head on ABA block:
Yields 8:1 compression and requires a change of the oil pump, crank pulley
and intermediate shaft to 16v units. The pistons also have to be clearanced
so the valves dont smack. Good news is this is identical to the factory ABF
motor so you can get the proper timing belt for it from The Potterman.
An interesting alternative to the compression issue and pistons problems is
to have the rods rebushed with non ABA rod bushings and then use 2.0 16v
pistons. This yeilds 9.25:1 compression. A little high for a turbo as it
leaves little room for error in tuning but great drivability off boost. You
can also use a VW motorsport headgasket to get the compression up to almost
10:1 if your not interested in turbo.
