RE: R/C suggestion
Ben-
The vacuum-forming process will not allow the detail that you are probably
seeking. The plug/master/model must allow the vacu-formed part to separate
from the master after forming.
This means the master cannot have any "undercut" areas that will cause the
plastic to "lock" onto the master during forming. This lack of undercut is
called draft.
One could build in some of the detail you want, but the body would have to
be built as two pieces that would subsequently have to be joined. This
would double or triple the cost to the consumer and yield a
less-than-esthetically-pleasing car body.
I could carve a 1/10 master of a MkI or MkII, but the detail would be no
better than what is now commercially available.

Subject: R/C suggestion
I have no R/C experience but after reading about 1) the desire for a
1/10 scale model; 2) the alleged ease of vacu-forming; 3) the seeming lack
of detail of the actual model, could one of our more artistically endowed
members carve out a 1/10 scale form and use it to pump out low buck copies?
Same artiste might also make a Mk.II which should get some mouths a
droolin'. Any would-be Rodin's up for the challenge? benton----
