RE: R/C body...
Since a lot of people are asking, I'll answer to the list. It seems a 1/10th
scale (which is the popular touring car chassis size) would not be
economically possible. I am still trying to find out what it would actually
cost to do it, but from what I've read before, it can cost upwards of $500
for initial costs. So it's not likely. Licensing comes into play here as
well as most manufacturers only have a license to make the body in a certain
scale and no others. But we'll see...
For those of you looking at getting a 1/12th scale car for these bodies, I
would recommend either Team Associated or Team Losi. Both make great r/c
cars, and both are competitive if you decide to race. HPI used to make a
1/12th scale car (called a mini), but stop production shortly after starting
it (now they have a "micro, which is like 1/18th or 1/24th scale IIRC). I
have one of these (and it's nitro even, screw batteries!!!) and it's a great
little car. Bought it used for $170. There are tons of bodies out there as
well for 1/12th scale cars (besides the ultimate scirocco body). Tamiya, and
HPI both make nice replica's of things like Mini coopers, GTI's, Polo's,
microbus, boxster, Civics, etc... Tamiya also makes a 1/12th scale car that
is fairly competitive as well. Nearly all except the HPI nitro version of
their mini are electric (Ofna supposedly makes a 1/12th scale nitro car, but
I've never seen one...).
Now, having a 1/10th would be very cool. My 12th goes about 60 when it hits
second gear, but it's really twitchy and I usually have to let off. Whereas
I have friends with 10th's that do 60+ and handle like on rails at near full
throttle through turns! I'll try convincing Bolink they need a 10th scale
body of this car more now that there are more people asking for it.
BTW Scott. Most of the racing companies make really killer rally car kits
now... ;) HPI makes a 1/10th electric rally. And their 1/10th cars can be
converted to 1/12th if you really want, as well...

Hey, is it possible to do these Scirocco bodies in 1/10 scale? I am actually
considering buying an R/C car just so that it can be a Scirocco! However,
I'd like to have an option to buy a 1/10 verses having to go with 1/12.
What is the more common size these days, anyway. I haven't thought about
this since the late eighties!
