did you 82 ever have AC or electrical windows on it (not very familiar with
MKI's) but I think if you had those on the car you can safely use a 90A
alternator on your 82.
I could be wrong of course, but that is what all VW nuts tell me

On my '82 with the 65A Alt, I NEED to relay the
lights. I would not worry about the switch if you are
using standard H4 bulbs.
My 1985 Scirocco with sealed beams is currently
brighter - I attribute this to the 90a alternator and
newer (better) wiring).
