Would seem like it could be welded stronger than before if you ask
me. Would be a good time to seam weld that area too, to avoid future
cracks. VW spot welds every few inches, seam welding is 110% stronger.
the pickups had double wall strut towers, this could be done to a rocco as
well i would think.
I'd either gas weld, or if electric weld, it can make a weld brittle... so
then you can have to heat treat afterwards with a gas torch anyway.
New to this list, but if all thats wrong with your a1 is a crack that can
barely fit a knife in and its good otherwise, i'd be interested :)
Where welding doesnt help too much is when accident damage is involved,
when steel gets bent out & back too many times it can mess up its
integrity. But welding a simple crack the steel around it should be still
good. Take it to a good welder.
