5-spd linkage adjustment

Hey, I have never driven a 5-sp and I am puting the shift linkage pieces
together and it just doesn't feel right.  It is occurring to me...  it has
allways been in my 4-spd that R is "under" 1st i.e. into the floor but with
this 16v tranny 5 and R are on the far right 1/3 of the wide "H" pattern.
5th up and R dn  DOH!
No wonder it just wasn't working right.
Any comments?
