RE: Logo Infringement

I was going to just reply to Dirk, but too many people think this is
an attack against him. It's not. It's just a new battle against
those of us that don't obviously put money in VWoA's pocket.

I *wouldn't* start emailing them and mention Scirocco.org unless they
attack directly. They will not grant permission for using the logo.
VWoA doesn't F'ing care about non-current models. Even been told "we
shouldn't even sell parts for the old cars"? Even feel like ripping a
parts guys head off? (some fat guy Fairfield VW in Cincy - it was
only a $2.00 part and they were close!)

--------------
Dirk -

As others have said, this has been going on for a while. The attack
started against the Aircooled VW websites, and now it looks like we're
next.

Look at http://www.vwmagazine.com for the "stopvoa" link. There used
to be links at Bill's http://www.aircooledlinks.com, too. (Bill is a
great contact for more info) Watch the aircooled newsgroup (RAMVW),
too. There is more info out there, but I can't find the links. There
has always been a lot of talk about this problem on RAMVW. The
watercooled community has always ignored the problem.

If you can, please look at the header information in the email they
sent you for their IP address (received from: [##########]). If you
have website logs, see if you can get their IP address from that, too.
Why? It would be interesting to check logs to see if they've been to
visit. If Brett has logging on .ORG he could check too. He may
actually be able to ban them from viewing (from their work account at
least), like vwmagazine.com has supposedly done.

I'd ignore them, and maybe remove the logo from your main page.

Greg :)
