That's where I disagree.  It does help to put money in their 
pocketbook.  First off, many older VW enthusiasts also buy new 
cars.  Secondly       (and in my opinion) more important, it speaks volumes 
to potential Volkswagen customers that their cars have such a loyal 
following 10, 15, 20 years after the fact.

If I was looking at a new Toyota Camry and saw that there was no support 
for 10-year old Camrys, no one cared about them, and I couldn't get help 
with it, I would be less likely to buy it than if I saw all kinds of 
support and enthusiast groups.
