[tech] Wheel Hubs

Guys and gals,

I'm presently replacing the wheel hub on my bro's 85 Jetta Carat since it's
somewhat deformed.  I have another sitting in my garage from a rocco I
believe.  The shaft, for lack of a better term, of the wheel hub from the
Jetta is slightly thicker than the other one.  The shaft is the part of the
hub which goes into the wheel bearing.  Can I simply use the thinner one?
Are there different hubs?
