RE: Bridgestone, was tire size question.
I've got Pirelli P700Z's (195/60R-15)on my 86 8V Roc now and I'm not sure if I'm happy with them yet. They seem a bit harsh so far (don't absorb small bumps very well). I have incidentally had two blowouts with them. They were due to prior damage by me. I hit a warped metal plate at a railroad crossing that was sticking up a little more than an inch. I checked the tires and wheels for damage and didn't see any. I suspect though that I ruptured the inside of the sidewalls when I hit it. Both the blowouts happened within 2 months of the "incident" and were on the same side of the car that hit the plate. I had the road hazard warranty from Discount Tire, though and they replaced both of them. That warranty came in REALLY handy when I had the 31x10.5-15's on my Nissan 4x4. :)
Anyway, as far as Bridgestones go, I had some of their mid range HP41's on my 83 Audi 4000S and was VERY pleased with their performance. I was doing 400-500 miles of highway driving each week and they were quiet, wore well and had good grip dry and especially wet. If I could have afforded some more expensive tires for the Roc, I probably would have gone with a Bridgestone product again.
I agree that just because they make Goodyears too is like saying Mercedes is crap because Daimler-Chrysler makes the Dodge Neon.
