Re: Engine Change



I am doing just that right now. a 2.0l 16V bottom from
a 91 passat, and I will be putting an 8V head.

You will need to change the pistons (new pistons and
ring), and the intermediate shaft.

You need a block off plate for the warm up regulator,
some kind of a ring to adapt the 8V distributor to the
16V block. New gaskets everywhere of course, new head
bolts.

While you have it all apart, might as well change the
crank/rod bearings, rod bolts, new oil pump.

And before you are going to slap the head on top of
this, might as well check the valves. Have them cut to
flow a little better. Why not buy new TT springs, just
in case you want to put a bigger cam later.

Port match the head ports for a few extra dollars. And
why not port match the intake and exhaust manifold so
it is trully matched.

All this, of course, is useless without a free flowing
mandrell bent exhaust (stainless?). And after you did
all this, why stop there: get a Schrick camshaft...

Well there is nothing that is really fast and simple
here... Good luck freezing your knuckles...
