RE: [WWOT] XP???

I hear this every time MS sticks new letters on the end of one of
their OSs, and it just isn't the case. An old friend of mine writes
motherboard driver installs for AMD, so has to deal with the very
guts of all of Microsoft's OSs, and we just finished having a long
talk about XP. The simple fact is that XP is nothing more than a
bunch of add-on programs to NT2K SP2. There is no way it can run "way
faster" than a properly configured NT2K SP2 install, because they use
the same core, and XP has more processes running. XP is not an
entirely new OS, it is just a collection of extra applets that run on
top of a NT2K core. If you are seeing major performance improvements
over NT2K, then it probably just means that the XP install better
optimized your registry, but that is something you could have done
yourself with regedit.

The goal is to overcome the deliberate nature of the process.
