RE: scirocco-L-digest V1 #1940
There is a way to fit these calipers the "right" way in a MkI conversion
least is to keep them in their stock A3 upside down position. Use the MkII
16v e-brake cables and run the cable through the trailing arm. This allows
for enough slack in the cable for the e-brake to function properly. As for
the bleeder, well who cares, get speed bleeders and let em squirt onto a
dropcloth or something.
I did this 6 years ago on my 78 using A2 Jetta GLI rear calipers and have
had no sticking problems.

RE: A3 rear calipers
The reason they may last longer is that they are "upside down" as
compared to 16V Scirocco Girlings. So, maybe moisture and crud doesn't
collect on the spring loaded shaft arm. BUT, bleeder will be in wrong
place and you will have issues fitting the Emergency brake cable.
