RE: Cruise control on 16Vs
A BTDT. Had friend who was in sales and was going to use his 16V for
travel. Got all the available options. Could NOT get cruise control on
his mid year 87, despite waiting and trying to order because there were
clearance issues with hood. Cruise control is not one of those things you
want to have malfunction. FWIW, bro's 89 16V GTi has cruise and it
recently needed the trick plastic bushing that interfaces the pull rod
with the bracket on throttle body. 12 years of heat soak.....
On the sunroof option: I am one who could not fit in car if it had
sunroof. So, one less thing to leak, and its uneeded weight for
competition IMO.
RE: Wheel bearing adjustment
Julie:
IMO, having to redo the rear wheel bearings is preferrable to
overtightening, which can cause them to seize. They are taper bearings
and you will do no real damage with them loose for a while.
