I've discussed this with the Potterman, according to
him the 1985 & up master cylinders won't work with the
earlier boosters. Something about rod length I think.
Also, the brake light switch is not on the MC on the
'85 & up, so you would have another complication. 

Talk to potterman for a more definative answer.
