replacing weatherstripping

ive aligned my sunroof b4, i can do the weather stripping.  Also, i know how much of a bitch the spring is, i was fortunate enough to have it hoock right into the skin between my thumb and first finger on my left hand.  it tore right through.  next time i wear gloves heh. Is a short shifter rod (with the shifter knob on it) a good investment?  also, autotech cams...are they anygood?  ordered my head unit today as well.
