dual sender question

In preparation for the installation of a 3-guage panel from an Audi, I
installed a dual pressure sender today, along with a new temp. sender.
Since i havent got the guages installed yet, i just hooked up the old
pressure warning light wire to the dual sender and left the other post
open.  Now the oil light flashes constantly.  Does the guage wire need to
be hooked up as well for the light to go off?  Or did i just get a bad
sender again.  The sender is off of a Audi 4k quattro, and i believe it is
a 5 bar sender.  I had the same problem last fall with the oil light after
i intalled a different sender out of another Audi.  
What's the deal?
