Injectors, clacking noise etc
Ok, after my little battle with the injectors I finally got them back in..
there was no time to get new ones, so I have to make due. What my german
help yourself book recommended is soaking the seals in gasoline (supposed to
form a better seal and help them slide in), which I did, and then used a
screwdriver and hammer to lightly tap them into place. (they're still loose
and leaky, but at least I can drive now)
The new intake manifold and leaky injectors gave the car a few hickups
before it settled. Ok, question to all, what's knocking sound like when it
happens (please no derogatory jokes - this is related to the car). Also,
would this relate to the tapping sound seemingly coming from the valve cover
once in a while (mostly when the car is still cool)? (no bent or whatever
valves etc .. just something I have heard on the older vw motors)
Think that's it for now .. will see if all my wrenching holds up when I hit
the road to monterey on friday (if not, should be plenty of knowledgeable
people heading my direction hehe)
