Are you sure?  I timed my engine using calipers to find TDC before I had it 
in the car, and the mark on the lower TB cover was correct.  Then when I put 
the flywheel on TDC seemed to be the little chisel mark.  I think the big 
mark is the one you're supposed to see with the timing light.
