what's an original 76 1.6 engine worth?

i bought a 76 metallic green scirocco to restore. the po gave me the
original carbed motor and 4speed trans that came with it. should i even
bother restoring it? it's still clean; the po removed the engine/trans
to do a clutch job...and never got around to it...go figure.
