After seeing people do this in the past, I gotta say it looks like ass the
minute the paint touches the plastic.

It's one thing to paint some detail around the edge of the vent panels
(something I've thought of doing many times myself), but to paint the
entire thing red or yellow or silver or whatever is just wrong.  Looks
tacky... there are pics of this kind of result out there.  Ask me privately
and I'll tell you where to find them :)
