Those will be 1.6s or maybe 1.5s - the 1.7 never existed over here.
The 1.6 carb was OK(ish) but the 1.5 is dire. There were some 1.8 carbs 
later but I'd guess most of the ones you would have seen would be earlier 
1.6s.
