87 Jetta GLI Recaro's in Mk1 Scirocco

Well I finially put my GLI seats in Mars (81 Scirocco)

I originally used the Recaro "wedge" bracket from my old Recaro to mount the
Drivers side seat and it worked beautifully.
The original Recaro and it's wedge bracket used smaller dia. and shorter
bolts than the GLI Recaro so I had to make a run to the hardware store to
get the larger dia. bolts in a shorter length to make it work.
I also had to drill out the holes on the bracket for the larger dia bolts.

That week I picked up a used set of the newer Recaro brackets from Tim at ND
(thanks!).

I did the same mods to the newer passenger bracket and mounted up the other
GLI.

I will eventually have a pair of mk1 Scirocco rear seats from the wrecking
yard recovered with the GLI's rear seat fabric. :)

I now have to make a trip to the wrecking yard for a pair of stock Jetta
seats to replace the ones now in the Scirocco.

All I can say is "damn these seats are awesome in the Scirocco" and they
even look period specific to the car unlike the newer Recaro's, Sparco's and
other Race style seats. I am 6'1" and I still have good headroom i the car
too, go figure.

I may have for sale in a little while:
80's model Recaro seat with newer bracket for Mk1 Scirocco. (center seat
part needs to be recovered -bolsters are still ok though)
87 Jetta GLI power (both work) Recaro brackets.

Just thought I'd share.
