Shaving Poly rack mounts (suggestions NEEDED)

Well, I don't want to have to do this, but if I can't finagle the rack up
against the body properly this weekend w/o having to shim out 3/4" to the
brackets w/ washers (which I *won't* do, thank you), then I'll be forced to
shave the back of the mounts a bit.  Anyone have any suggestions on a tool
to do this with?

I think the problem is that the mounts are a little too fat-ass in the back.
They fit around the rack and into the brackets perfectly, but they are quite
fat in the rear compared to the OEM mounts.  Now, this is a power-to-manual
swap, which we are all familiar with by now, I know  ;-)   But I don't think
the brackets are different between the two and the rack sure is the right
one, since it's OEM and new....
