16V taillights

Note to self:

Self,

Aged 16V taillights don't abide well with being cleaned with Windex. Tends
to make the black stripes disappear.

Oops.

Anybody have a good method to restore the black stripes to their taillights?
A cheap set of replacements?
A better color than black to turn them on my silver car?
