1.8l 8V Buildup

I gotta make this quick. Here's what I'd change in your build plans:
Keep your cat unless the 2hp that you're missing bothers you more than the
potential legal troubles. Nix the Supertrapp/ go with anything from
Techtonics. Don't bother stroking the motor when you can *just buy a 2.0l*.
If you want more displacement than 2.0l then start with a 2.0l block and add
a Jetta TDi crank. It'll cost you less to simply buy a bigger motor or even
start with one. (Less or no machine work). Use cast pistons. Forged has
undesirable characteristics for daily use. The advantages that forged
pistons offer will not be realized in your naturally aspirated motor. As for
the clutch, this is related to how much power you intend to make.

>From the sounds of your needs and budget, I'd just install a 2.0l motor and
call it a day. Btw, there is no reason why you can't run nitrous and keep
your reliability. You just have to do it right -like anything else.
