Mk.1 - Rust in front valance! - What now?

Hi

I was grinding away on the roc today and when I got down to the point on the inner arch where the fender is secured (in front) I gave the front valance a bit of a scrub too...shouldn't had done that! It has rusted through the front panel (the one which points down towards the ground...or the one you mount those big black "snoughplough" spoilers in) and I can see through the holes that surface rust is ALL OVER in there. Sad thing is...the whole damn thing is a big closed box with small holes! How do I get the valance open and eventually get all the bad panels out and welded in new?

Oh, here's a good one: I wanted to have a body repair shop to make the welding in the cornor of my windshield sorround...but I had gotten impatient and started on my own. When the man at the bodyshop saw my work he refused (He actually did) to do any work and just gave me some good advice, because he thought I was doing a fine job. Cost me 2 beers :-)

Well - hope you can help me with the front valance...it's difficult because it's a very stressed point on the car so I know I have to be carefull not to remove too much...
