Dan,

Go for a new set of cams. If you want to keep it in the $400 range, go with
the euro intake cam, or the Autotech pair. I run the later of the two, and
can say that the car whoops ass over the exact same engine with stock cams
installed. They are smog legal in California, and it idles just fine.
