1.8L 1985 VW Scricco engine work..

I have a 1985 VW Scricco and I plan on taking the motor out of it to do some
repairs. It is leaking oil like crazy. I think around the main seal that is
on the timing belt side of the motor. It wines to, so that is why I think a
seal it leaking thus causing a bearing to get badly worn out (the wining).
It is a very loud win, so I decide that I would take it out and maybe put
new rings on the engine also bearings where neaded and change the seals.
Most of them anyway. Any recommendation as to what I should replace and what
I dont have to worrie about. It is a 1.8L JH engine. I would like it to last
for awhile so I can save up for a 2.0L 16v for it.....


Any help suggestion, words of advice would be greatly appreciated!!
