RE: Adjusting Valve Clearance



I'm in the process of doing this now.

I've found that a good way to remove the disk from the follower is to use a
really strong magnet. I use one that used to drive a small speaker. The
magnet sucks the disk right out of the follower. 'Course this only works if
you have the cam removed. I hold the follower in my hand and draw the disk
out with the magnet in my other hand.

One question I have is where in the range you want to be.

Cold:
Intake .006" to .010" (0.15mm to 0.25mm)
Exhaust .014" to .018" (0.35mm to 0.45mm)

Should I aim for a "tight" clearance, or aim for the middle of the road? I
figure I want a tight clearance so that I get that much more lift out of the
valves--always looking for that little bit of extra power!

What's everyone's opinion?
