Re: Fuel injector cleaning rig

Along with what Foxx said, the injector cleaner actually tests the injectors
pop off PSI and can maintain presure to check for leaking at a pressure just
below the pop off pressure. You could probably get some cleaning using the
method described, but the best way to clean the CIS type injector is the
Injector Doctor or some other professional injector cleaner in your area.
They actually use a machine that ultrasonically cleans the injector which is
the best way to clean them since they have little filters inside.
Ultrasonic vibrates the dirt particles into smaller ones so they pass
through the filter. If this doesn't fix your injector flow/spray/etc. then
you will need new ones. Some believe that this isn't worth it either since
you pay what one new injector cost just to have the cleaning done so you may
as well spring for the other three. It works really good on the electronic
fuel injectors that cost an arm and a leg though!! You can always try a
fuel additive? I have had very good experience with BG's 44K. Stick that
in, go drive your car really hard for a little while and see what happens!!
I haven't had as good a luck with the Redline additive. It works good in
the injector cleaner but not as well as the 44K as an additive (my opinion).
HTH!!!

i'm not sure how to clean the injectors other than using an injector
cleaner. the problem is that cis injectors don't function like 'normal'
injectors. the cis ones vibrate thousands of times a second. it's only
after a while that they wear out. hence the reason that it's best to
replace all four injectors at once or replace a bad one with a used one
(for a similar amount of fuel use). when you DO use the injector
cleaner, it's mostly just cleaning your valves. if you've got
particulates in the system, chances are that they'll pass out through
the injectors if it gets past the filter.
