[tech] a/c removal tips needed
ok, so i've already done the a/c removal on my 88 16v, with the original a/c bracket, i just left the alternator mounted at the top. But now i want to move it down and mount it down where the compressor used to mound and just run the belt from the alternator to the crank pulley. Two questions:
1)If anybody has done this, how did they get enough clearacne to mount the alternator lower on the bracket...the compressor mount on the bracket is like a 1/8 inch too wide for the alternator to fit...for those who have done this...what did you use to shave the metal...and did you shave the alternator or the bracket? i'm thinking of taking it to the local machine shop and seeing if they can do it for me...unless anybody know of a good way to do it.
2)those who have the alternator mounted on the lower part of the bracket and have the belt running from the alternator to the crank pulley, what size belt did you use?
Thanks for the help
