smoking brakes?

I just finished changing the front brakes on my rocco.....took the car for a
quick 5 minute test drive and they feel fine, sound fine, but when I got
back to my driveway, they were smoking.  Is this normal?

I've never noticed smoking brakes other times when I have changed brakes,
but then again, I've never looked.

Brakes are vented 9.4's and mintex pads and yes, I used
brake cleaner to get the oil from the packaging off the outside of the discs
before I put them on.
