yo eric.
i think the motronic tach signal only works properly if you
have the speed sensor connected. because when the second stage
of the motronic kicked in on my car, my tach used to die. finally,
i ran a seperate wire from the blue wire on the coil directly to the 
old wire from the CIS-E harness. the one that used to go into the 
distributor. i think it was black/red, but this is CIS-E.

check that out.
