Make sure to check, that the screen has been removed from the banjo bolt,
that holds the fuel line to the inlet of the fuel distributor.
This screened bolt is supposed to be removed aa part of the initial
dealer service...
Laurie's RIP '86 GLi had well over the indicated and stuck 120K mile
odometer's mileage, and the screened banjo bolt was still on there.
It was almost impossible to budge, I finally got it off, drilled the
screen out, cleaned it up, and re-installed it.
This cured ALL it's driveability problems, and it didn't hesitate again,
until the pick-up/screen for the fuel pump came off, and then it would
hesitate when low on fuel and in turns.
