The whole point was that he was trying to get there in time to stop the
wedding, and they wanted to show that the power of the VR6 Jetta could get
you to something that was the most important thing in your life.  The
Jetta guy had a thing for the bride to be, and if you had noticed the
look in both the eyes of the Jetta man and the Bride to be the meaning of
the commercial would have become clear.  HTH...but it's just my .00002
cents.
