OT : Passat Radio Wiring

Hey all...

I'm trying to install a cd player in my roomates 92 Passat 16V.  It has
power windows and locks.  I think that the wires running from the factory
radio go to an amp under the dash?  Is this right, and if so, how would i
wire the new head unit in?  Any input would be appreciated.
