Mk2 Scirocco dash in an 83 GTI?

Has anyone ever done this?  I've got a friend doing a 2.0 16V conversion on
an '83 GTI, and he wants to use the dash out of a 16V Scirocco I helped to
part out.  He wanted a Scirocco, but this GTI was way too clean to pass up.
Especially for $450, so the interior of a Scirocco is the next best thing.
Can anybody help?
