I would get some grease and grease up everything including holes where the 
hood things go into (im getting technical now).  Also find where the cable is 
and trace it all the way and see if it is getting hung up on something or if 
it is broken.  It may have stretched and need adjustment, find the adjusters, 
they are behind the lights or around that area of the grill, and tighten up 
the slack, kinda like fixing brakes on a bicycle. Good luck
