sweet - my Sony has this - it is very useful

Not at all - you run the pre-amp RCA cables to the amp
powering your sub.  Your headunit doesn't have the
juice to power a sub

Correct - just make sure you have a crossover on the
subwoofer side.

Not if you run it like this.

If you have a 4 or 3 channel output amp, (2 rear +
sub) you should have 2 sets of preamp inputs. Just run
2 sets of RCA cables to the rear, and put them in the
respective inputs.  If you have some weird sort of
bridging going on to use just a 2 channel amp to run
the rears and the sub, youll have to be dependant on
the rear pre-amp outputs.  The sub output only outputs
the frequencies for the sub, and doesn't go into the
higher ranges that will be covered in the rear
preamps.

outputs into a 4 or 3 channel amplifier.
